The method involves generating a pair of successive treatment radiation therapy fractions, of which each contains a different set of radiation segments. Common radiation segments from two prescribed treatment radiation therapy fractions are combined to reduce the total number of radiation segments to which the patient is subjected. Independent claims are also included for the following: a system for planning the use of a sequence of treatment radiation therapy fractions, of which each contains a series of radiation segments with a predefined cumulative dose intensity profile, a computer-legible medium, a computer program for planning and a system for delivering series of treatment radiation therapy fractions.
