The device has a control unit (22), which reacts to signals for predetermined operation states and controls the operation device to close the petrol cap. A slide-way (10) that can be rotated or displaced by a drive element and has a guide slit (12) defining two levels (12a,b) for a locking bolt (14) of the petrol cap. The slide-way position closes the petrol cap or moves it to an intermediate position for easy opening.
