A panel loudspeaker comprising a panel (61) which supports resonant bending wave modes, a transducer (63) mounted on the panel (61) to excite resonant bending wave modes to produce an acoustic output, a panel support (67) and a panel suspension (71) for suspending the panel on the support (67), characterised in that the panel is elongate and the panel suspension (71) is located in the region of each short end of the panel to partially restrain the short ends so that the motion of a central region of the panel is significantly greater than the motion of the short ends. A television comprising a screen, a moulding surrounding the screen, and a panel loudspeaker as described above mounted in the moulding adjacent the screen. |
