A rotor of an induction machine has an integral laminated core/stack (1) the outer peripheral surface of which is at least partly enclosed in a bandage (4). The bandage is completely closed around the laminations stack in the peripheral direction, while the axial extent of the bandage (4) can be less than the axial extent of the laminations stack (1). The integral laminations stack (1) is provided with apertures for receiving magnetic devices, especially permanent magnets (2), and the bandage (4) is specifically shrunk or wound on to the laminations stack, and consists of carbon fibres, titanium, stainless/refined steel and/or glass fibres.
