Vehicle measurement device comprises a vehicle lifting platform (20) and an axle measurement device lifting platform (30) for lifting the measurement device (60). The axle measurement device lifting platform comprises at least two lifting platforms that are controlled independently of each other. An Independent claim is made for a method for checking and adjusting the alignment of a vehicle wheels and axles. In a first stage the measurement device lifting platform is lifted using the first lifting platform and in a second stage, if necessary, the measurement device is lifted using the second lifting platform. The first stage is used to check the alignment of the wheels. The second stage is used if re-alignment is necessary, at which stage both the vehicle and the measurement device are lifted through the same height using the vehicle lifting platform and the second measurement device lifting platform. The first measurement device lifting platform is kept at the same height relative to the vehicle so that it does not require realignment. |
