Th objet of the invention is to improve a circuit enabling external devices to communicate with a central/decentralised data processing system by means of a bus, so that different external devices may be connected to any busses. For that purpose, the circuit for connecting any external devices by means of any bus systems to the data processing system has automatic bus recognition and adapting circuits for automatically recognising the bus system required by the external device and for automatically adapting to said bus system.
