Emergency cooling of electrical and electronic etc equipment requires initial gradual release of pressure inside the enclosure or cover (2) of the equipment followed by pressure-release conditional cooling and/or evaporation of an at least partly gaseous fluid medium (4) inside a highly pressurized container (3) for a time sufficient for stemming the externally acting heat and/or the effect of any thermal radiation, with subsequent ejection of a mixture of the fluid and the atmosphere in the enclosure, via openings (9,14).
