An antenna 2 is mounted on a PC card 1, the antenna attached to the PC card so as to be pivotable from a stowed position in the plane of the card to an operating position perpendicular to the card. The antenna 2 may be rotatably mounted to the PC card 1 by means of RF connector 3 of the antenna and complementary RF connector 4 inside the PC card. The antenna 2 may be a blade antenna, formed from a conductive element on a flexible PCB and coated in a soft outer moulding of a plastic material. The PC card 1 meets the PCMCIA standard and may be used with laptop computers and PDAs (personal digital assistants) to enable mobile telephone and wireless LAN functionality. |
