<p>A pallet of modular construction comprises a frame 1-4 formed by a pair of longitudinal sections 1,3 and a pair of transverse sections 2,4, an inner rib section 5 and a plurality of slats 6 between which the inner rib section 5 extends. The frame sections are of substantially similar construction to one another and the adjacent ends of the frame sections interconnect via interlocking mortice and tenon type joints 8,9 which may be of tapered, conical or frusto-conical construction and which interconnect by movement of the frame sections in a direction transverse to the pallet. Each of the plurality of slats 6 interlocks with the longitudinal frame sections 1,3 and also with the inner rib 5 via mortice and tenon type joints. The rib is connected to the transverse frame sections via lugs (17) which plug into stacking holes (15 Fig.4). Slots (14 Fig.4) in the transverse frame sections which do not receive slats may be completed with filler pieces 7. The modular pallet is preferably constructed of plastics material and may comprise a kit of parts.</p> |
