<p>A method for making a cushion pad 30 is disclosed, comprising the steps of making a base layer 17 making decorative members 20, attaching the decorative members 20 to the base layer 17 and surface treating the base layer 17. The base layer 17 is formed by mixing rubber particles made by comminuting used tyres with an adhesive to form a mixture. The mixture is molded to form a thick plate which is then sliced to thin sheets serving as the base layer 17. The decorative members 20 may be made by directly cutting EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) or PU (Polyurethane) sheets of different colors into desired shapes. Alternatively, the decorative members 20 should be made by mixing EPDM or PU particles with an adhesive to form a mixture. The mixture is molded to form a thick plate which is then sliced to thin sheets. The thin sheets are then cut to desired shapes. The decorative members 20 are attached to the base layer 17, by adhesive to forms a desired pattern for entertainment or educational purposes. The claimed cushion pad can be used as a resilient safety mat for use in play areas.</p> |
