A method of scaling the presention of bar charts on a monitor when scrolling

The prior art relates to a method of displaying a bar chart on a screen in which the length of the longest of the bars is adjusted to a suitable length (eg to just fit the screen) and the rest are scaled by the same ratio. This can lead to some bars being rather small. The present invention alleviates this disadvantage, at least in the case where the bars are arranged in order and where there are more bars than will fit on the screen, by re-determining and adjusting the longest visible bar and re-scaling the other visible bars whenever the screen is scrolled. The invention may be used in network management.
