PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a fluorine-containing dicarbonyl compound, by which the fluorine-containing dicarbonyl compound can industrially be produced in a good yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing the fluorine-containing dicarbonyl compound represented by the formula: R1COCFR2COR3 (R1 is H, an alkyl or an aryl; R2 is H, a halogen or an aryl; R3 is H, an alkyl, an aryl, an alkoxy or an aryloxy; provided that at least two of R1, R2 and R3 may together form one part of a cyclic structure), comprising reacting a dicarbonyl compound represented by the formula: R1COCHR2COR3 with fluorine in the presence of a salt or an acid having a pKa of <=6 in a solvent.
