PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screen printer capable of setting a printing pressure of a wide range and dealing with many types and a method for screen printing. SOLUTION: The screen printer prints the paste on a base 6 by contacting a mask plate 12 with the base 6. In this case, a squeegee 15 is coupled to a rod of a reciprocating type cylinder 14. If a printing pressure value for pressing the squeegee 15 to the plate 12 is low at a printing time, airs of air pressures a2, b are respectively supplied to an upper side port 14a and a lower side port 14b of the cylinder 14. If the pressure value is high, the air of an air pressure a1 is supplied only to the port 14a. Thus, the high printing pressure setting and the low printing pressure setting can be conducted only by an air control. The printing pressure setting of a wide range can be performed to deal with many types.
