A rake-wheel, for a haymaking machine, has backwardly-directed circumferential tines, each tine having a first portion 18 extending from the root 16 in a forward direction away from a line 17 passing through the wheel axis and the tine-root, and a tip portion 20 extending rearwardly, these portions being interconnected by an arcuate portion 19 of a length equal to at least half the total length of the tine. The wheel has a hub 2 with a flange to which a circular plate 4 is bolted. The tines are extended through holes in a rim 15 and continue as spokes 13 which are clamped, in groups between the plate 4 and segments 9 of an annulus bolted to the plate. The spokes extend tangentially to the annulus.
