PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide thiocarboxamides that have the resistance induction action against plant pathogenic microbes and reveal excellent activity as an agent controlling plant diseases. SOLUTION: The objective thiocarboxamides are represented by formula (1) [wherein Z is 2,6-dichloro-4-pyridyl group or 3,4-dichloro-5-isothiazolyl group; R is a 1-6C alkyl, a 1-4C haloalkyl, a 1-4C alkoxy-1-3C alkyl, a 1-4C alkylthio-1-3 C alkyl, a 3-6C cycloalkyl which may be substituted with methyl, an aralkyl which may be substituted, a phoxy-2-4C alkyl which may be substituted, a phenylthio-2-4C alkyl which may be substituted or phenyl which may be substituted; in addition, R represents a group of formulas (2), (3) or (4)].
