PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems of an ink jet printer using a fixed head having a large number of nozzles that power consumption increases and durability deteriorates during recovery operation where all actuators are driven simultaneously because the number of nozzles may exceeds 1000. SOLUTION: In the print process of an ink jet printer, a second voltage pulse is applied to a different pressure generating means for every print process rather than a first voltage pulse is applied to a pressure generating means depending on the recording content to eject ink liquid from a nozzle and a second pulse is applied to all other pressure generating means. Since the number of pressure generating means being applied with a voltage pulse simultaneously can be decreased, viscosity of ink in nozzles having a low use frequency can be prevented from increasing without increasing power consumption.
