PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydroformylation reaction in which an olefinic double bond-hydrogenation reaction of side reaction is controlled. SOLUTION: This hydroformylation reaction comprising supplying an olefinic compound and water gas into a reactor receiving a reaction medium in which a group 8 noble metal catalyst having an organic phosphorus compound as a ligand is dissolved, characterized by performing the reaction so that the size of bubbles in the reactor has a Sauter's mean diameter (d32) of <3, 000 ppm, wherein the Sauter's mean diameter is defined by equation (1) [dpi is the diameter (μm) of a bubble; ni is the number of the bubbles whose diameters are dpi].
