PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester excellent in transparency, heat resistance, and mechanical property. SOLUTION: The polyester is obtained by the polycondensation of a diol component containing 15 mol% or more of decahydronapthalene-2,6-dimethanol and a dicarboxylic acid component containing 70 mol% of terephthalic acid and/or its derivative and has an ultimate viscosity falling in a specific range.
