PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a needle swinging device capable of preventing the needle swinging device from overrunning due to hunting of a stepping motor. SOLUTION: A needle bar supporting base 20 supporting vertically movably a needle bar 14, a needle swinging motor 4 capable of intermittently rotating positively or negatively, and controlling the rotation angle, a needle bar supporting base shaft 24, one end of which is fixed to the needle bar supporting base and supported movably in the direction perpendicular to a cloth feeding direction, connecting members 22, 26 and 30 connecting the needle oscillation motor and the other end of the needle bar supporting base shaft, and a pressing force providing means 42, 48, 50 and 52 providing a pressing force radially to the needle bar supporting base shaft are provided.
