METHOD FOR PRODUCING 1-ALKYL-3-ALKYLIMIDAZOLE HALIDE SALT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a produced 1-alkyl-3-alkylimidazole halide salt as high purity crystals in a good yield when producing a 1-alkyl-3- alkylimidazole halide salt by reacting a 1-alkylimidazole with an alkyl halide. SOLUTION: This method features comprising the following processes: (i) a process where the above reaction is carried out by heatup in an organic solvent which is a good solvent to the 1-alkylimidazole and also is a poor solvent to the 1-alkyl-3-alkylimidazole halide salt; (ii) a crystallization process where a reaction product liquid obtained in the above process is cooled to precipitate the 1-alkyl-3-alkylimidazole halide salt as crystals; (iii) a solid-liquid separation process where a crystalline slurry liquid obtained in the crystallization process is separated from the organic solvent; and (iv) an organic solvent- removing process where the organic solvent adhered to the crystals obtained in the solid-liquid separation process is vaporized and removed from the crystals.
