PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and efficient industrial method for producing anα,α,α-trifluoromethylphenyl-substituted benzoic acid compound (compound [II]) at a low cost, and to provide a simple method for producing anα,α,α- trifluoromethylphenyl-substituted benzaldehyde compound (compound [III]) at a low cost. SOLUTION: This method for producing compound [II] by using an inexpensive hypochlorite as an oxidizing agent, and the method for producing compound [III] by using a specific amount of an inexpensive hypochlorite.
