PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the breakage of an actuator supporting a steel wheel, caused by loading a car body on a locus with insufficient extension of the steel wheel, and to prevent the accommodated steel wheel from naturally dropping and disturbing the traveling on the road. SOLUTION: This road/rail working vehicle comprises a bracket 62 oscillatably mounted on the car body 10 and supporting the steel wheel 14, a steel wheel extending and retracting cylinder 63 capable of oscillating the bracket 62 to move the steel wheel 14 between a predetermined retracting position and a predetermined extension position located beyond an oscillation bottom dead center from the reacting position, a controller 80 and a control valve 90 for controlling the operation of the cylinder 63, and a steel wheel extension detector 65 for detecting the steel wheel 14 located on the extension position and outputting an extension signal. The controller 80 stops the operation of the cylinder 63 after the passage of a predetermined time from the output of the extension signal from the steel wheel extension detector 65, when the steel wheel extension and retracting cylinder 63 is operated to place the steel wheel 14 on the extension position.
