PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical pencil capable of incorporating and carrying a desired article such as paper, a cake, an eraser or the like. SOLUTION: The mechanical pencil A is constituted to project a lead containing tube 2 arranged in a barrel 1 in a predetermined length via a lead feeding member 3 having a lead in the tube 2 arranged at a lower end of the barrel 1 by downward moving the tube 2. In this case, a containing cylinder 4 with a bottom is detachably contained in an upper part of the barrel 1 in a state in which the cylinder 4 is supported at its lower end to the tube 2. Accordingly, the desired article such as the paper, cake, the eraser or the like can be contained in the containing cylinder. Further, the containing cylinder can be contained in good appearance in an upper part of the barrel of the pencil and carried with a mechanical pencil carrying person.
