PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet imaging apparatus in which image quality is prevented from lowering due to abrupt bending of a recording medium. SOLUTION: In the way of imaging on a sheet of recording medium 12, the number of print passes is altered at a specified timing. Bands (12-1) and (12-2) are subjected to one pass printing. When a band (12-4) is under imaging, a discharged part of the recording medium 12 has been predicted to bend due to its self-weight. Consequently, bands (12-3) and (12-4) are subjected to two pass printing. After the recording medium 12 has bent slowly, it is guided downward while touching a guide plate. Consequently, bands (12-5) and (12-6) are subjected to one pass printing.
