PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for imaging in which a high quality image can be outputted by preventing overlap of dots at low and intermediate density parts as much as possible thereby sustaining the brightness at a highlight part. SOLUTION: Upon receiving an input multi-valued image value In added with an error value dIn by an adder 100, a multi-valued error diffusion output value generator 101 outputs a multi-valued error diffusion output value Out corresponding to the input value. A comparator 102 compares the input multi- valued image value added with an error value In+dIn with a generated multi- valued error diffusion output value Out and a selector 103 outputs the multi- valued error diffusion output value Out and an integrated error value In+ dIn-Out separately. An accumulation error buffer 104 accumulates the error value In+dIn-Out and a divider 105 distributes an accumulated error value to peripheral pixels at a specified ratio. A density pattern matrix 106 converts an inputted multi-valued error diffusion output value Out into corresponding density pattern matrixes to generate a specified output binary image value 107. |
