PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet detecting mechanism or sheet detecting sensor with a long product life without impairing the quick responsiveness of sheet detection. SOLUTION: This sheet detecting mechanism comprises a carrying passage for carrying a sheet, an actuator part set on the carrying passage and operable by the collision with the carried sheet, and a detection part for detecting the sheet by the operation of the actuator part. The collision part of the sheet with the actuator is changeable.
