In a process for the production of dihydroperoxides by oxidation of dialkylated aromatic compounds of the general formula R2CH.Ar.CHR2 in which Ar represents an aromatic residue and R an alkyl radical and in which the oxidation product is extracted with aqueous alkali, the alkaline extract extracted with an organic solvent for by-products of the oxidation to obtain an organic phase containing said by-products and the organic phase subjected to hydrogenation and returned to the oxidation stage, the organic phase is extracted prior to hydrogenation with an aqueous alkaline solution. |
