PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for preparing a polyester thick and thin combined filament yarn by melt-spinning two filament groups, drawing each filament and then doubling are provided. Therefore, a polyester fiber having characteristics similar to a hemp having a clear feel and smooth appearance is obtained. CONSTITUTION: Two filament groups are melt-spun from a spinneret(1). A first filament group(2) is drawn by passing through a temperature area higher than 5 deg.C above the glass transition temperature of a first winding roller(5) and one end part of a second winding roller(6) and a second filament group(3) is drawn by passing through a temperature area higher than 5 deg.C above a glass transition temperature(Tg) of the first winding roller and another end part of the second winding roller to form a thick and thin yarn. Thereafter, the first filament group and second filament group are collected and then doubled.
