The invention relates to a device converting radiant energy into electric energy and can be used as a dc power supply and as a cooling element. The aim of the invention is to increase the efficiency factor and to widen the functional capabilities of the device for converting radiant energy into electric energy. The aim is achieved by using a heating element containing an active substance which is decomposed by the effects of thermal radiation.
