PURPOSE: A method for servicing digital subscriber lines of multi-tone method is provided to reduce service stop time and to realize a fast retrain procedure and to manage a profile in the fast retrain procedure in an ADSL modem without a splitter at a subscriber. CONSTITUTION: According to the method, after powering on a digital subscriber line modem without a splitter at a subscriber, a show time starts through G.HS(Handshake) procedure and an initialization procedure. And if channel environment servicing data transmission changes by a cause due to a telephone during the show time, the method transits to one of the G.HS procedure and the initialization procedure through a fast retrain procedure. A profile including a plurality of parameter values appropriate for a channel environment by the initialization procedure is generated and is stored in a memory of the digital subscriber line modem. The plurality of parameter values include signal to noise ratio of a plurality of sub channels, a bit table/gain table as to the plurality of sub channels, a forward error correction parameter and an interleaver depth. Then, a signal to noise ratio(SNR) of a channel whose channel environment is changed by the fast retrain procedure is obtained. And, a profile having a SNR similar to the SNR of the changed channel among profiles stored in the memory by the fast retrain procedure is set to a profile of the channel whose channel environment is changed.
