PURPOSE: Universal joint structure of a steering shaft in a vehicle is provided to discharge air from a pipe with supporting an air hole by a contact end of a shaft and with forming the air hole in a packing member of the pipe, and to prevent the packing member from being displaced efficiently without applying compressive force to the packing member. CONSTITUTION: An inner shaft is connected to a steering wheel through inner and outer joints(1a,2a), and inserted to a pipe(1). The pipe is combined with a shaft(2), and a rubber packing member(3) is fitted to an end of the pipe near a contact end(2b) of the shaft. A protruded part(3a) is formed in the middle of the packing member, and an air hole(3b) is formed through the protruded part. A settling groove is recessed in the contact end of the shaft to contain the protruded part of the packing member. The inner shaft moves to the packing member of the pipe according to steering, and compresses air in the pipe. Air is discharged smoothly from the pipe at the specific pneumatic pressure, and the packing member is not compressed. The packing member is prevented from being displaced with the settling groove containing the protruded part of the packing member despite moving the contact end of the shaft continuously.
