<p>An axle driving system with a hydrostatic transmission disposed in a housing (1,2), wherein the hydrostatic transmission comprises an input means (3) for receiving power from a prime mover, a hydraulic pump (16) driven by the input means (3), a hydraulic motor (17) driven by pressurized fluid from the hydraulic pump (16), and an output means (4) driven by the hydraulic motor (17) and drivingly connected to a substantially laterally extending axle (7). The hydrostatic transmission comprises a center section (5') providing a mutual fluidal connection between the hydraulic pump (16) and the hydraulic motor (17), and the center section (5') comprises a first piece (5'a) and a second piece (5'b) which are respectively releasably fixed into the housing (1,2) while being releasably coupled together.
