The present invention provides a system an method for searching for products to be purchased on the Internet. In one embodiment, the method includes a computer system receiving data generally describing attributes of a product to be purchased. In response to receiving the data, the computer system initiates an Internet search using a first web-based search agent. The computer system receives first and second data from first and second web sites, respectively, coupled to the Internet, wherein the first and second data are received in response to initiating the Internet search using the first web-based search agent. The first data indicates that a first seller corresponding to the first web site has a first product for sale that meets the generally described attributes of the product to be purchased. The first data includes data specifically describing a plurality of attributes of the first product. The second data indicates that a second seller corresponding to the second web site has a second product for sale that meets the generally described attributes of the product to be purchased. The second data includes data specifically describing a plur ality of attributes of the second product. The system and method of the present invention may further include the computer system establishing a two way communication link with one of the first and second sellers. The two way communication link may be configured to transmit data relating to a proposed purchase order to the one of the first and second sellers for one of the fist and second products. The two way communication link may be configured to transmit data relating to the proposed purchase order with revisions thereto, wherein data relating to the proposed purchase order with revisions thereto is transmitted from the one of the first and second sellers. |
