PURPOSE: A bronchial smooth muscle relaxant containing a component as a kind of bile acid extracted from bile of animals is provided, which shows a relaxation effect on bronchial smooth muscle and has no side effects. CONSTITUTION: The bronchial smooth muscle relaxant composition containing a bile acid extract of a variety of animals is obtained by separating a component having an effect on relaxation of bronchoconstriction from bile having antitussive and expectorant effects. The bile acid extract contains one or more of glyco- or tauto-conjugates of a bile acid salt or bile acid.
