PURPOSE: A flat CRT is provided to reduce manufacturing cost for panel by minimizing sagging of the panel during vacuumization of the interior of the flat CRT, and achieve an improved yield rate and reduce manufacturing time by preventing the panel from being damaged by the heat during sealing and vacuumizing procedures. CONSTITUTION: A flat CRT comprises a funnel(6) having a neck portion and an extended portion(6b) with a plane of a predetermined length(L); a panel(1) fixed at the end of the extended portion of the funnel; and a band(9) coupled to the outer periphery of the extended portion of the funnel. The end of the panel is inserted into an end(6c) of the funnel, and the funnel and the panel are coupled with each other by being sealed through a frit glass(12) melted between the funnel and the panel. Each end of the panel and the funnel has inclined surfaces, and an outer surface(1a) of the panel is inserted into the funnel less farther than the end of the funnel. The belt has a width larger than the thickness of the panel.
