APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR INDICATING RESIDUAL CAPACITY OF BATTERY USED IN ELECTRIC MOTOR VEHICLE

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method is provided to allow a driver to estimate route of travel and associated mileage of a vehicle through an improved accuracy of indication of residual capacity of battery during vehicle travel. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a voltage detector(11) and a current detector(12) for detecting change of battery state; a temperature detector(13) for detecting the temperature of interior of a battery pack(10); a signal amplifier(20) for signal output from the voltage detector, current detector and temperature detector into an appropriate signal; an analog-digital converter(30) for converting the analog signal output from the signal amplifier into a digital signal; a discharge signal generating unit(40) for generating a discharge signal, if there is a start key signal; a charge signal generating unit(50) for generating a charge signal, if there is a charging plug connection signal; a computing unit(70) for judging whether a signal is for charge or discharge, and computing the remaining life(capacity) of the battery by using the data output from the analog-digital converter and operation data output from a data storage unit(60); and a display device(80) for displaying the remaining life of the battery.
