PURPOSE: A VMS(Voice Mail Service) method for an Internet phone is provided to offer a suitable VMS according to an object using Internet phone information of the object. CONSTITUTION: If a receiving sound is generated when a user is absent, an Internet phone address of an object is confirmed. It is judged whether the confirmed Internet phone address is an address stored in a directory. If the confirmed Internet phone address is the address stored in the directory, the first VMS mode is operated. If the confirmed Internet phone address is the address stored in the directory, the second VMS mode is operated.
