925,742. Furniture glides. ARMSTRONG CORK CO. Dec. 18, 1959 [Dec. 19, 1958], No. 43174/59. Class 134. [Also in Group XXV] A furniture glide comprises a first element moulded from a heat-deformable resin, e.g. nylon, having an integral projecting flange defining a central recess containing a first curved surface, and a second element including a second curved surface complementary to, and co-operable with the first for relative swivelling movement, a portion of the flange overlying and confining a portion of the second element. As shown, the base 2 is initially formed with an axially-extending flange 6, Fig. 1. During manufacture of the glide, this flange is bent over into engagement with the second element 11 by the application of heat and pressure, Fig. 3. The nail or drive-screw 15 and washer 4 may be replaced by a cup-shaped member adapted to receive the end of a chair leg, or by a member adapted to fit within a hollow leg of tubular furniture. |
