PURPOSE: A rotor shaft for AC generator for motor vehicle is provided to reduce manufacturing procedures and cost by improving configuration of knurl arranged in the center of the rotor shaft. CONSTITUTION: An Ac generator comprises a rotor assembly(30) including a stator assembly having a stator core and a stator coil; a rotor shaft(20) for receiving power from the stator assembly; a spool bobbin(23) for taking up a rotor coil(21), and which is connected to a slip ring(22) press fit to the rear of the rotor shaft, wherein the spool bobbin is coupled to the intermediate portion of the rotor shaft; a core coupled to the rotor shaft; and a driver end segment(25) and a slip ring end segment(26) press fit to the outer surface of the core so as to accommodate the spool bobbin. The rotor stator has a knurl formed in the center of the rotor shaft so as to increase coupling force among the driver end segment, slip ring end segment and core, wherein the knurl is formed into a straight line type. The knurl includes a driver knurl, a core knurl and a slip ring knurl which are formed in sequence starting from a shoulder(51) formed at the rear end of the rotor shaft. Thus-formed driver, core and slip ring knurls have outer diameters slightly larger than the outer diameter of the rotor shaft, and outer diameters of driver, core and slip ring knurls decrease as it goes forward starting from the shoulder.
