PURPOSE: A vibration attenuation apparatus for shadow mask is provided to effectively suppress howling and vibration of the shadow mask by positioning the damper wire at the site having the largest dislocation of the shadow mask caused due to the vibration. CONSTITUTION: A vibration attenuation apparatus is constituted by a damper wire(110) interposed between mask passage holes(106) of the shadow mask, wherein a tension is applied to the damper wire(110) in a vertical direction. The damper wire(110) where a tension is applied is arranged in a vertical direction at the center of a shadow mask, and damper wires are arranged at the left and right sites from the center of the shadow mask, respectively. Each of damper wires attached to the left and right sites from the center of the shadow mask, is 2L/4 to 3L/4 based on the center of the shadow mask, if the length of the horizontal axis of the shadow mask is 2L. The damper wire attached to the center of the shadow mask is positioned within 10mm from the center of the shadow mask.
