PURPOSE: A method for sculpturing a portrait relief using a computer numerical control(CNC) is provided, which can engrave the portrait relief in intaglio and in relief automatically using a graphic program like a photo shop or a paint shop after converting a portrait photo into gray scale. CONSTITUTION: The method includes a portrait photo scan step(S1) scanning a portrait photo with a scanner, a gray scale conversion step(S2) converting the scanned photo into gray scale and storing it, a gray numerical value input step(S3) correcting a light and darkness part of the gray scale photo with a graphic program and inputting its value. And a portrait shape modeling step(S4) reads a numerically-converted portrait shape with a modeling program and models it. Then, a sculpture plate automatic sculpture step(S5) sculptures precisely a sculpture plate loaded in a CNC(Computer Numerical Control) sculpture apparatus with a corresponding depth numerically inputted according to the photo shape. The method also includes a sculpture plate press molding and closing processing step(S6) forming a portrait shape on a metal plate by pressing the metal plate and coating it.
