PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for automatic sound control are provided, which can control a volume level automatically in correspondence to a noise of surrounding environment while a sound instrument outputs a sound signal. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a control part(10), a volume control part(20), a sound signal output part(30), a surrounding noise analyzer(40), a surrounding noise input part(50), a memory(60) and a main sound device(70). The surrounding noise input part receives a noise signal with a microphone and amplifies it to transmit to the surrounding noise analyzer. The surrounding noise analyzer measures an amplitude or spectrum of the surrounding noise from the surrounding noise input part and then applies them to the control part. The control part applies a volume level control signal corresponding to the extend of noise to the volume control part. The volume control part control a volume of the sound signal, and the sound signal output part outputs the sound signal of the main sound device with the volume level controlled by the volume control part.
