PURPOSE: An activated carbon fiber having increased antibacterial property and being useful for a filter and so on, and a manufacturing method thereof are provided. CONSTITUTION: The activated carbon fiber is obtained by a process containing the steps of: mixing thermosetting resin powder such as phenol resin with metallic precursor powder selected from the group containing sulfer oxides, nitric oxides, chloride and carbonate of transition metal such as silver, copper, cadmium, zinc and nickel or at least two mixture thereof to produce raw mixture; forming fiber shape out of the raw mixture; thermosetting the raw mixture having fiber shape, followed by carbonizing to produce a carbon fiber under the inert conditions; activating the carbon fiber into the activated carbon fiber; and then soaking the activated carbon fiber in solution melted pharmacore active component selected from the group containing coptis, cimicifuga, rhubarb root, myrrh or at least two mixture, followed by taking out and drying.
