PURPOSE: An optical disc for copy protection and a method for copy protection are provided to prevent an illegal copy by distinguishing an original copy from an illegal copy. CONSTITUTION: A link area is read by using an MSF(Minute:Second:Frame) address. the read object disc is an original disc or a copy disc. The link area is read by using the MSF address, since there is not an LBA(Logical Block Address) in the link area of the original disc. The LBA is recorded in the link area of the copy disc, since the link area and the user data are recognized and recorded in the copy disc. The original copy is determined by the read data. In order to determine the original copy, data after the link area are checked by using the LBA. The original copy or the written copy is determined by the consistency of the data after the link area.
