METHOD FOR COMPACTING WOOD SURFACE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a compacted layer having a necessary compaction degree on one side face of wood such as a plate material and the like by any thin depth. SOLUTION: A method for compacting a surface of wood is provided wherein the surface of the wood 3 is crushed by rolling with a rolling roll 1a, and by fixing deformation of the rolled wood 3 by restricting the wood of which the thickness is reduced by rolling, a compacted layer is formed on the surface of the wood. Rolling is carried out by selecting so that a roll radius R of a rolling roll la under a reduction (a) of one side surface of the wood 3 becomes R.a<=90 mm to increase a compaction degree of the surface layer part of the wood 3.
