PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of the conventional device for duplex printing that a method for controlling a controller portion of a printer is complicated and a load applied increases because the number of the remained sheets should be checked in a state of stopping the operation of printing a surface in order to print the surface. SOLUTION: The printing papers start to be supplied and transported when a printing data is developed by dot to a bit map data in the sequence of input, stored in the output memory or the like and a pair of a surface and a reverse is completed in the output memory or the like. Then the bit map data of the reverse is read out and printed on the reverse of the papers when the papers are transported to the position where the bit map data of the predetermined reverse starts to be read out. Furthermore the papers are reversed after transporting and the bit map data of the oldest surface finished forming is read out and printed on the surface of the papers when the papers are transported to the position where the bit map data of the predetermined surface starts to be read out.
