PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 2-(meth)acryloyloxymethyl-2-methylbicyclo[2.2.1]heptane (co)polymer having high heat resistance, the monomer and a method of producing the monomer efficiently, and to provide a method of purifying the raw material alcohol to obtain the monomer with high purity and a method of producing the raw material aldehyde efficiently. SOLUTION: The 2-(meth)acryloyloxymethyl-2-methylbicyclo[2.2.1]heptane consisting of the exo and endo isomers in a 75:25-100:0 mass ratio is polymerized. The 2-(meth)acryloyloxymethyl-2-methylbicyclo[2.2.1]heptane consisting of the exo and endo isomers in the 75:25-100:0 mass ratio is manufactured by esterifying 2-hydroxymethyl-2methylbicyclo[2.2.1]heptane obtained by reduction of 2-formyl methylbicyclo[2.2.1]-5-heptene, with a (meth)acrylic acid derivative.
