摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve detection accuracy in the case of low steering torque inputted to a steering wheel in a steering torque detector detecting the steering torque by means of a magnetostrictive material for a cable type steering device. SOLUTION: Pressing parts 19a, 19a arranged in the middle of arm members 19L, 19R supported freely rotationally at the base ends by means of a fulcrum pin 18 are brought into contact with magnetostrictive materials 25L, 25R respectively arranged on the inside of a pair of coils 24L, 24R, and a reaction force of an outer tube 7o of a Bowden cable, to which axial compression force works by steering torque, is applied to the tips of the arm members 19L, 19R. The reaction force is amplified in the arm members 19L, 19R and transmitted to the magnetostrictive materials 25L, 25R, so that magnetic permeability of the magnetostrictive materials 25L, 25R can be greatly changed for improving the detection accuracy even when the steering torque inputted to the steering wheel is low.
