PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a fiber-reinforced metal composite wire wherein a special apparatus is not needed and wetability of an inorganic fiber is improved by a convenient and easy method and spaces among fibers of a bundle of the inorganic fibers are sufficiently impregnated with a metal. SOLUTION: This method for preparing a fiber-reinforced metal composite wire is characterized by providing a preceding process wherein, after the bundle 10 of the inorganic fibers is immersed in a solution 12 containing a hydrolyzable organometallic compound, the above organometallic compound is hydrolyzed and heat-treated to coat the bundle 10 of the inorganic fiber with a metal oxide and a succeeding process wherein the above bundle of the inorganic fibers coated with the metal oxide 110a is continuously inserted through a metal melted liquid 102 filled in a storing tank 103 stored in a pressure vessel 101 and provided with orifices 105 and 107 for introducing in and guiding out the bundle of the inorganic fibers 110a under pressure and is coated with the metal.
