PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a box spanner capable of fastening without dropping a nut or a bolt for securing a groove lid to a side groove. SOLUTION: A pressing member 4 for pressing a part of polygonal peripheral surface of the nut 11 or a bolt head to be fitted into a box-shaped opening part 2 is mounted to at least one part of the box-shaped opening part 2 of a grip 1 in a circumferential direction. The pressing member 4 comprises a holding cylinder 7 threaded and inserted into a screw hole 5 provided at one part of the box-shaped opening part 2 in the circumferential direction so as to penetrate between the inside and the outside, a projecting element 8 accommodated in a tip opening part 7a facing onto the inside of the box-shaped opening part 2 of the holding cylinder 7 so as to freely project and retreat, and a spring 9 accommodated in the holding cylinder 7 so as to projectingly energize the projecting element 8 at all times.
